The Field is set in a small village in the southwest of Ireland in 1965.  John B. Keane’s play is a funny, fierce, and tender study of the love a man can have for the land and what he is willing to do to make it his own.  Bull McCabe holds the grazing rights to a field that comes up for auction, and he believes the land should rightfully come to him.  Feeling that the system is rigged against him so that he can never get ahead, he decides to take matters into his own hands…
